Residency Program
Dayton Artificial Limb offers year-long residency opportunities to top-level graduates of NCOPE-accredited Orthotics and Prosthetics programs. With an interdisciplinary team, and a focus on comprehensive care, our residency program delivers a hands-on learning experience that cannot be matched.
While some residency programs are criticized for providing very little meaningful experience, our program stands apart with real hands-on treatment and care experience in a diverse learning environment. Our residents have literally cast a patient on their first day of residency and continue to participate in interesting patient cases, including PTB AFO, hip disartic, ischial weight bearing BK, and more. Our residents maintain their own independent patient schedule and a high patient load while continuing to receive generous supervision and support. And our resident workload is light on orthotics, heavy on prosthetics, and includes IPOP experience.
Because of our unique relationship with Prosthetic Design, Inc. and other area professionals, our residency learning environment extends beyond the clinic. Our residents interface with engineers to understand vacuum technology and the CAD-design process. Working with area hospitals, they observe amputations and surgical procedures. They also attend clinical lectures and workshops and have additional opportunity for their own research projects. And our residents are expected to deliver presentations to support groups, schools, and professional gatherings.
Our residents work at various locations, including our two clinics, our mobile lab, area hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation facilities, and patient homes. And our residents work directly with patients, surgeons, physiatrists, physical therapists, prosthetists, and engineers.
Residents who join our dedicated team of practitioners get more than just a great learning experience. We also cover the costs of the residency application fee, the ABC Practitioner Exam registration, and all exam training material. Plus, we offer a competitive salary with available medical & dental benefits.
